Refund processing delay?
Q. I filed my taxes on e-file on February 16 through H&R Block and it was accepted on the 17th. I waited and checked the Where's My Refund site and it said I should get my refund by March 1. I checked today and it said there was a processing delay and I should now get it by March 8. No codes or anything. Anyone knows what this could mean? I was thinking about calling the IRS but I am worried I'm gonna get some bad news. Should I call?

Tax refund "processing delay."?
Q. The situation is this. My wife and I were separated almost all of last year, maintained separate households, the whole bit. She had my stepkid living with her, I had my child living with me. We recently got back together. Since we lived apart, we met the guidelines for HOH...and that is how we filed our taxes. Now, since we had previously filed jointly, we BOTH claimed the 08 stimulus refund, $1688. I claimed it on my return, she claimed it on hers. Now, the IRS site says mine is being deposited tomorrow, her's has a "processing delay." Oh, one more thing: Prior to this year she was a stay-at-home mom. Here is what I'm thinking: I'm thinking that since she didn't file separately in 2007, and yet claimed the 2008 ($1688) stimulus… [cont.]

"There is a delay in processing your Stimulus payment" What does this mean?
Q. I received the letter indicating my payment will be mailed no later than 6/27. I just checked online to confirmed the mailing date and now I get the message noted above. Can anyone help me understand what is going on?. BTW, I did mail an amended return and the CSR stated I would receive my additional refund by 7/26. She never mentioned that it would affect me receiving my stimulus payment. Help!? Like most, I could really use the $$ right now...

A. An amended return will delay your rebate, so that's most likely the reason. I wouldn't neccessarily count on receiving the refund from the amended return by 7/26, though. There's a backlog on these and they can't guarantee a processing time right now.

Tax refund processing delay 2011.?
Q. The site said I would get my refund by 2/8 and now it was changed due to a processing delay to 2/15. I didn't get any codes or anything. Is anyone else seeing this? I don't owe and back taxes, loans or support or anything. Did anyone get the refund when it said they would the first time?

A. I have the exact same problem. My return was accepted on 1/26 and "Where's my Refund" said I would receive my refund by 2/8, and today it changed to 2/15 due to a processing delay. No codes were given. I called the IRS to see what the problem is and they had no answer.

A. I have a dd day of the 22nd, BUT my filing and acceptance day was way later than Jan 24th. However, my brother DID file on that day and also had the feb 22nd dd day. He received his refund yesterday. Have you contacted the IRS yet? And yes, you're right, a lot of people have had delays this year, some more than others.

Tax Refund Delay due to delayed processing?
Q. I filed on 1/14 and my return was accepted. Up until yesterday I had a refund date of Feb 2. Now when i checked back last night it said there is a delay in processing and my refund won't be released till around 2/23. I was just wondering if anyone else recieved this message and if so did they contact IRS and find out whats going on.

A. Happens to lots of folks. There are literally thousands of reasons that the processing of your return could be delayed and without looking at a copy of the return as filed it would be impossible to speculate as to what it might be. If the IRS has any questions they will be in touch by mail in a few weeks and will tell you what they need to get your return back into the processing queue. Calling the IRS to see what the status is would be a waste of time until they have had it for at least 30 to 45 days.

A. I first had refund to be deposited 1/25, then "there is a delay in processing your refund" recvd a cp-05 letter which basically told me nothing, would receive a refund or another letter within 3 weeks from 2/18! The people at the IRS are NO help at all. I don't think there is anything wrong with any of our returns. I think they are just slow and are using these codes as excuses to hold our money. I am so sure they will be paying us interest on our money that they owe us! The exact same thing happened to me last year. H&R block on line. E-filed. Still have been waiting almost 6 weeks!

did anyone recieve a delay in processing stimulus due to amendment of taxes?
Q. won't send stimulus till finished processing amendment papers? why is this?
Asked by tiffanyallen71 - Sat Jun 14 16:28:47 2008 - United States - 3 Answers - Comments

A. When the IRS logs in the amended return, it flags your account. The flag doesn't indicate whether you were expecting a further refund or owed money. Therefore, in case you *do* owe money, no other refunds are released until the amended return has completed processing.

What does a delay in processing on my tax refund mean?
Q. I checked our refund on WMR on the IRS page last week and it said our return was being processed and we would get a refund by March 15. Then when I checked it today it says there is a processing delay and our refund will be March 22. There isn't a reference code and it doesn't show a different refund amount. Should I be worried or is it just the IRS is backed up right now? Thanks in advance for and help!! I did paper refund due to the adoption credit we claimed. I sent our by USPS certified mail and they got it on Jan 27. It came up on the WMR on Feb 11 and then when I checked it today Feb 16 the date had changed from the 15th to the 22nd. I had also read it could be as soon as 2 weeks and was really wishing that would happen, but who… [cont.]

A. Wow...did you paper file? You are the first person on here that I've read that has a March refund date...everyone else is still talking about Mid-Late February. With no reference code, it's more than likely a "simple" delay that will not require your input, but I'm just confused by why they've given you a date so far out.

What does "There is a delay in processing your Stimulus payment." mean?
Q. I put my info in the "Where's My Stimulus Payment?" IRS web site and received the answer, "There is a delay in processing your Stimulus payment." Im supposed to get the check no later than June 13th. Should I be alarmed by this response? Or does this response have to do with getting a paper check because I used Turbo Tax? Could this because I filed an amended return (Energy Tax Credits)?
Asked by Dan B - Mon Jun 2 12:09:11 2008 - United States - 4 Answers - 1 Comments

A. It is probably because of the amended return. I know I don't owe anything. I filed an amended return april 13 and my status for receiving the stimulus payment is the same...delayed..

If a child has one illegal immigrant and one US citizen parent, will this delay US passport processing?
Q. If a child's mother is a US citizen by birth, and said child's father is an illegal immigrant, would this delay processing time for the child's US passport?

A. No, if the child was born in the US, it's an American citizen and entitled to a US passport regardless of the mother's status. as noted, US regulations require both parents' permission to get a US passport.

Why would the EIC and Child tax credit delay the processing time for my tax refund?
Q.
Asked by Amanda - Sat Feb 20 17:16:42 2010 - United Kingdom - 1 Answers - Comments

A. Because there are A LOT of fraudulent claims for those two tax credits, so the IRS scrutinizes those returns more closely before sending out refunds.

Is anyone else having problem with the tax processing delay like I am?
Q. My taxes got accepted on the 1st of February and originally said if no errors will receive by the 15th witch technically is the 11th cause they only do it on Fridays. Well i checked my status today Tuesday the 8th. and it said it was delayed and to expect my refund by February 22 witch is the 18. My question is doesn't the website only update on Wednesdays, and will it still update tomorrow. also is it possible i will still get my refund by the 11th. Could the website be wrong?
Asked by Emily Devore - Tue Feb 8 22:50:23 2011 - United States - 2 Answers - Comments

A. In my experience, the website only updates on Wednesdays. It may update tomorrow and say that you will receive your refund on the 11th, who knows. I know it is frusterating waiting for your money. Trust me, I was there. I finally received mine last friday, but it seems like it took forever. Just be thankful that you are getting a refund and not having to pay the IRS, which I have never understood how ppl can owe money at the end of the year, after they have been paying taxes all year, go figure, it's the government..lol. Be patient, your check is coming and you will be able to take care of all the stuff that you need to. You will then feel sooo much better...:-) Hang in there
