How can I make my period start faster?
Q. I want my period to start today or by tomorrow because next week I have a dance(school play) and I just can't dance knowing I will be on my period. Is there anything I can do besides excercising to make my period come earlier?

A. There is nothing you can take or do to make it start early, The cycle is very important, you can dance with your period. Actually exercise and physical activity helps you with cramps and bloating.

Do you have to take birth control on the start of your period?
Q. My doctor told me that I have a hormonal imbalance and I need to start birth control pill immediately to help with the pain. However it was on day 5 of my last period that she told me to start to take pills. Once the gynecologist (other doctor) had said that pills must start on your period, the box does say to start on the day of your period. Question, am taking 21 homonal tablets and 7 non hormonal tablets, of course when my period starts again I would not have finish taking all the first pack. Can I start the other pack on the day my period comes now, and forget about taking all the non hormonal tablets? Would it make my body go out of wack?

A. I guess just follow your doctor's advice. Call the dr office or your pharmacy for medical questions having to do with your pills.

if you start your period on the first day of inactive birth control pills?
Q. Say it's the Sunday you start your inactive pills, and you start your period that day. I know you're supposed to start the active pills on the first Sunday after your period starts, so what should you do in that situation? Should you start the active pills that very day, or wait until the next Sunday? I start my inactive pills next week, so I'm just wondering what to do if this happens.
Asked by sunflower - Tue Jul 14 12:05:20 2009 - Women's Health - 4 Answers - Comments

A. The first answer is right. Sunday start only applies to when you're starting them for the very first time. After that it's just one a day, all the active pills, then all the inactive pills, never missing a day of either, and regardless of when your period is.

When will my period start if I just stopped taking birth control?
Q. My doctor recently switched my prescription from Yaz to Tri-Sprintec. I wanted to start to Tri-Sprintec right away because I'm not liking the Yaz, so my mom told me to just stop taking the Yaz, wait for my period to come, and then start the Tri-Sprintec that next Sunday. My question is how soon can I expect my period? I was about halfway through my packet of Yaz and I'm not due to start my period until next week. Will it still come early because I am no longer on the birth control? I really need my period to start, haha.
Asked by DaftDeviant - Thu Aug 7 17:17:08 2008 - Women's Health - 3 Answers - Comments

A. It's just like missing pills, so you should start soon. Don't be worried if your cramps are really bad, thats what happens if you miss pills and start your period early. I was on tri-sprintec and really liked it. Good luck!

How soon should your period start after you take emergency contraception?
Q. Should your period start around the time it normally would?
Asked by xo pnhs xo - Sat Jan 22 18:45:37 2011 - Women's Health - 2 Answers - Comments

A. I tool Plan B once and my period came about a week late. Just watch your body and if you still get cramps but no blood that's normal. If you are 2 weeks late then take a pregnancy test but if it is a little late don't stress. That is normal. The pill just throws your body off a little bit.

Why did my period start early and have pain?
Q. I take birth control and I usually start at the same time each week, but this week I started 4 days early, and have moderate pain in my lower back and abdomen. Normally I don't have cramping during my period. I missed a day or two of my birth control, but I made it up like I'm supposed to. Also, it's not a heavy flow, just spotting-very light. Is this something I should be concerned about, or am I just having a weird month?

A. Even if you were nursing, there are birth control methods that are safe to use. You can start before your first postpartum period if you're sure you're not pregnant.

Can I alter my period if I start my new pack of birth control pills a week late?
Q. I am going on vacation next month and don't want to have my period the whole week I'm at the beach. If I start my new pack of pills a week late, would that make my period start a week late?
Asked by Brittany - Mon Jun 21 11:05:02 2010 - Women's Health - 4 Answers - Comments

A. Ok I have asked this same question several times, and every time, nobody seems to understand what I mean. So, I decided to just try doing half a week. I was on a Sunday start pill (Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo exactly). So I took my last pill of the pack on a Saturday night, like normal. I got my period the same day of placebos as I usually would, but then instead of starting the new pack on Sunday night like I normally would, I waited until Wednesday night. So I started the next pack three days late, basically. I just made sure to use condoms that month, because altering your pill like that makes it less effective. Sure enough, when I started my pack three days late, my period came three days later than normal. I assume you could do the same thing… [cont.]

Do I have to start my birth control the Sunday after my period starts?
Q. I just got birth control about a week ago, and they told me to wait until the Sunday after I start my next period to start the birth control. Do I really have to wait another two weeks, that's when my period should start, to start my birth control?
Asked by Rini Haru - Tue Jun 2 21:24:59 2009 - Women's Health - 3 Answers - Comments

A. You can either do a Sunday start or a day 1 start - when you start your pill pack the first day of your period. Either way you are going to have to wait. Sunday starts are easier to follow because most pill packs are labeled for them. Otherwise you need to start with the right pill for the right day so you may not necessarily take your pills in order.

Can you start taking birth control before your period starts?
Q. My doctor told me to start taking my birth control pills on Sunday but I haven't started my period yet. All the papers she gave me says to start it the first Sunday of your period. Who should I listen to? And if I've already started the pack because I thought I should listen to my doctor, should I continue or just wait for my period? (It's my first time taking birth control).
