What is the best pill to take for period cramps?
Q. I want to see if there is some other kind of pill that helps my period cramps other than birth control. I am too afraid to talk to my mom about it because she would freak out. Do I need a prescription to take a birth control pill. I am only 14 so I am not sure exactly when I should start. How old were you when you started to take birth control pills.

If you are pregnant, will you have period cramps when your first period is supposed to start?
Q. I usually have period cramps when I have my period. We are trying to get pregnant I am 3 days late. I feel like maybe I could be pregnant but I woke up today with cramps. There is no sign of a period besides the cramps. Can you have cramps or other symptoms of pms during your first missed period?
Asked by Zya - Mon Jul 16 11:51:44 2007 - Trying to Conceive - 1 Answers - Comments
A. Yes, You may be pregnant. The cramps you are having may be implantation crapms, which are very similar to period pains. It is when the egg attatches its self on the lining of your womb, This usualy occurs 7-10 days after conception. Good luck sweety x

How do you get rid of massive period cramps?
Q. I am 14 and my period started about 4 hours ago. I have had really bad cramps for 2 years now and don't know how to get rid of them.

A. Don't use painkillers, they just numb the pain and can actually make cramps progressivly worse, instead try Clary Sage oil rubbed into your stomach, it works better than painkillers, you don't build up immunity, and it supports estrogen production and acts on pituitary gland to prevent cramps. Cell salts are a good too, when you get cramps take them every 5-10 minutes until the pain stops. Excercise to stretch abdomen and improve breathing, this video of yoga postures for cramps - Masturbation is also good excercise as it relaxes you and helps circulation. Complimentary treatments can help such as Chiropractice care or Acupressure, this video showing you how to use certain points to stop cramps Try drinking herbal teas; yarrow, lemon balm,… [cont.]

Q. k so I got my very first period in September and I never experienced cramping for any period until now. I just got my period today for February and I have really bad cramps (well I think there bad). i despise periods like whenever I get it it's like "Here we go again" I am only 13 so no birth control. I heard bananas help with cramping but I really don't like bananas at all I also heard chocolate helps. But is that all that helps with cramping? I took some Advil and it didn't seem to help. I have school tomorrow so I am wondering what kind of things I should pack in my lunch. Thanks . No stupid answers please! (;

My period is not due for at least another week Whats with the cramps?
Q. I do not get cramps before my period just with it and my period is not due for 7-10 days. I have strange cramping like period cramps. What could this be? We use contraception I do not think pregnancy is a possability
Asked by lilmee - Sat Jan 31 18:28:21 2009 - Trying to Conceive - 2 Answers - Comments
A. It could just be that you had some left over blood from last month and your body is cramping because of it. I find that this happens to me from time to time and when my period starts I will usually experience brown spotting sometimes the day before my period is due. So if your period starts a day early, or you notice a lot of brown blood mixed in with fresh blood then this is the cause. Some times for some reason we just don't release it all and it can mess with our bodies. You could also be pregnant. Even though you are on contraceptive you can still be pregnant. Rare though so you are right to be thinking that is a really low possibility.

Is it normal to get normal period cramps, but no period when you might be pregnant?
Q. I'm trying to get pregnant, my period was due yesterday and I still haven't got it. Pregnancy tests keep coming back negative. Today I am experiencing the same cramps I normally experience when I get my period, but I don't have it, nor any of the other normal signs that I have when I get my period. Is it normal to experience similar symptoms if you're pregnant?

What's the difference between stomach aches from holding in gas and period cramps?
Q. I can't tell if the gas i'm getting is because i don't let it out and it hurts my stomach or if it's cramps for getting my period. because i get strong stomach aches and gas i dont know if it's gas or cramps. and my mom had her period when she was 12 in the summer. does that mean that i'll have mine soon because of the genetics? cause i have vaginal discharges and i jus turned 12 and it's almost summer.

A. For me,gas 'cramps' are pain towards rear end and period cramps are more centered in the middle of the stomach area, like there's a ball that is constantly 'crashing' into the stomach wall. to be honest most girls dont really have an idea when they were having their first period. I had no idea when I first had it. Went to the toilet and voila, there it was! Your first period is gonna be light anyway so you would probably hardly feel before and after it arrive. i dont think it matters when your mother got her first period. my mother got hers when she was 13 but my younger sis got hers when she was 11. so...its not at all genetics! i know that at your age i was waiting and excited at the same time for my first period (made me feel grown up,lol) [cont.]

Why do I only have period cramps while wearing tampons?
Q. I am a regular tampon user, but I find myself experiencing terrible cramps throughout my entire period. Every time I take out my tampon I feel relieved, but when I put another in the cramps come back. I took my tampon out for about 3 hours today and just used a pad, I had no cramps. It feels like my tampons are causing me to cramp, but I've been told that it is not possible, can anyone help me?

A. I don't wear tampons but one of my friends who used to said that they can cause cramps. So it definitely is possible. She said she didn't know why that happened, but it did. So maybe you should stick to pads. They work for me :)

A. Avoid caffeine and salty foods. That can make you bloated and worsen your cramps. Maybe you should try Midol instead of ibuprofen and take it when you know you'll get cramps soon. Also try a very hot bath. Backrubs are good too. :-)

A. Constipation pain is higher, closer to your waist, but not quite that high. If you push into your stomach and more toward your side you can feel a firmness. That is the intestines backed up with "you know what". If you let it go very long it can be truly painful and potentially dangerous. Dairy & bread products (donuts, crackers etc) increase constipation as well as antihistamines (they dry you out) and pain medications. Not drinking enough liquids and other things, but these are the most common. The gas is a sign, but chocolate and beans causes gas in many people too. The cramps from your menstrual cycle are located down further and to each side above your pelvis in the general area of where your ovaries are located. These… [cont.]

Any tips for really bad period cramps at school?
Q. Usually my period cramps don't start till about half way through school or once I first get to school or on my way there, but they hurt like hell. Any tips?

A. Take an advil or midol before you go to school or when you first get there. I used to get the worst cramps during the middle of the day back in HS, then I just figured I would take either 2 advils or a midol before leaving and my cramps quelled themselves pretty quick.

What's the difference between period cramps and stomach cramps?
Q. I've already had my period for the month and by now i would think my cramps would be gone... but there's still this lingering cramp; just not as severe. is it just stomach cramps like after eating or is it really still period cramps?
Asked by swirlycurlyQ - Tue Dec 9 19:47:32 2008 - Women's Health - 2 Answers - Comments
A. Period cramps are normally experienced in your abdomen, around the same pelvic area as your ovaries (near your hips) and sometimes in the upper thighs. If you are getting cramping higher then that, it's unrelated stomach cramps and you should see a doctor.

A. Drink lots of water!!! i mean a lot. youre body is cramping so much because its working too hard, and even if you dont know it, you may be a little dehydrated, and it will only become worse with your period. water helps so much. also, try heat therapy, like a therma care patch (which is great for when you are out and about), or heat pads to relax the muscles. if you dont have those, my favorite DIY is to take a sock (preferably with high cuffs) and fill it with rice (preferably plain). stick in the microwave, and u have urself some heat therapy. and don't forget the pain relievers, like advil, tylenol, or motrin.

Q. I am going to a party/ meeting thing tomorrow and am expecting my period. I always get debilitating cramps on the first 2 days. How can I prevent this? I have to go to the party, it's an obligation I have already made. I don't know the people so I can't back out or leave early because I don't feel well.
