A. the worst part about starting puberty is the worry about getting your period for the first time...if the discharge bothers you wear a panty liner...and just always have a pad with you so you don't have to worry about starting your period at a bad time...plus usually it doesnt start out heavy so you will realise you are on it before you bleed through...just take a deep breath and relax, everyone starts at their own time...i didn't start till i was 15!

A. from a female i have acquired the knowkedge that: if you're young it is quite normal for periods to be a bit irregular and erratic, if you can rule out pregnancy then there is really nothing to worry about. do not put tampons in unless you are on your period as this can induce toxic shock syndrome. can't you have a word with your mum, she may be sympathetic about allowing you to use tampons on holiday if it starts. but it is perfectly normal for periods to be a bit out on timing if you're young, try not to worry about it as getting stressed can delay periods. hope this helps.

Q. i'm wondering if periods are genetic. What i am saying is, will i have the same cyle as my mother. She has a heavy period for 3 days and I am the same way. Also she started around the same time as she did. Does this sound very genetic?

A. Ah, congratulations on entering the world of horrid womanliness. 0_0. Tips? DON'T drink caffeine! Don't ingest caffeine. Don't have anything to do with caffeine. Except chocolate. But don't over-do it. Ingesting caffeine is proven to make cramps wayyy worse than you'd ever want them! I'd suggest getting a nice bottle of Midol or Pamprin. They get rid of bloating, cramps, and fatigue. Among other things. Menstrual calendar? At first your menstrual periods will be irregular, so you'll just have to wait and see when your menstruations will be. When you start to get cranky, crave chocolate, feel bloated, and feel kind of tired; I'd say that's a clear sign that you're getting your period. Changing pads? You should change your pads as often… [cont.]

What does period squared mean in terms of pendulum?
Q. I need to graph the relationship between T (period) squared and the length of the pendulum. I understand what the period is, but what is the period squared..? What is its importance, and why is it plotted rather than Period vs Length Ok, but whats the importance of it being squared? What does it mean?
Asked by dominicano - Mon Sep 28 02:31:59 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Take the period in seconds and multiply it by itself. This graph is much more recognizable than graphing against period alone. Period^2 ^ | | |___> Length

A. yes; everyone is different. When I first missed my period I felt like it was going to start because I had cramping and I felt bloated a lot. Then came along all the other symptoms so I took a pregnancy test and it was positive. good luck

A. Well, I didnt know I was pregnant until 6 weeks after conception. My periods have always been off. I could go 2 months without having one, and still come out NOT pregnant. The way I learned I was pregnant... For 2 or 3 days I was having horrible lower abdominal pain. If I moved, it would start up and make me buckle over. I was taken to the ER because we thought it was my appendix. I think everyone is different. Some of my friends say when they boobs started to tingle, or a metal taste in their mouth and all these other things.

Will my period still start after taking one or two days of Provera?
Q. I'm posting in this forum because people posting here have had more experience with Provera, although it seems they are using it to regulate their periods for fertility reasons. I've been put on Provera (5 mg) for 7 days to delay my period because of an upcoming vacation. I feel bloated and think my period will start regardless of having taken my first pill today. If it does start, will the Provera stop it before my 7 days suppy is gone?

A. you aren't supposed to see your cycle until 3-5 days after your provera treatment is done. but it differs with every-ones body.

Why is it that periods differ?

How do i get my period stopped after having a tubal ligation?
Q. I had my tubes tied about 5 years ago. Since then i have had periods every 2 to 3 weeks, it varies. I have no schedule to my period, which makes it hard to plan intimate activities. I am getting married in a few months and would like to know that i am not going to be on my period, on the wedding date. So how do i get my period stopped? I assume that i cannot take BC pills, since i have had a tubal. I am 34, smoke, and have family history of stroke and heart attack.

A. Unfortuantely the only way to stop it is to use hormones such as BCpills. Your risk factors are really high really making that not an option. Talk to your physician about this. There may be new stuff on the market that could help. Good luck!

A. How long have you been taking birth control? Your period will be out of whack for a few cycles if you have just started. You would start your new pack regardless of starting your period or not, you need to take the pills everyday on time so your period can regulate itself.

When will my regular period start back after taking one Depo shot?
Q. The shot caused me to have an irregular period. I basically had a steady period the whole time. I'm usually a 4day period kinda girl. Any clue as to when it should go back to normal.? The effectiveness wore off and I was set to take yet another shot Feb 14, I declined.

A. It's a waiting game with the Depo shot. Good chose to not get it again. I wish no one would choose to take this form od birth control. It took me 8 months to get my period once I was off the shot but I was on it for 7 years. You should be back to normal soon. I would consider once more month since it's still not all the way out your system (when you said you were due for your next shot 3 days ago)

A. Any time you have sex you risk the chance of pregnancy. Its as simple as that really. No matter when the period is due, no matter what protection you use, you risk the chance of pregnancy any time you have sex. The ONLY 100% effective form of birth control is abstinence.

Is it normal to miss a period after missing a birth control pill on Loestrin 24?
Q. I am 20 years old and have been taking Loestrin 24 since August, and last week missed my first pill ever. I took two the next day. Up until now I've had regular periods, but now I'm on my 4th day off the pill and still have no period. Is this usual after missing a period? I'm having cramps and the faintest bit of dark red left on the toilet paper every time I go to the bathroom; is that my period or is it too light to be considered one?

How to tell if it is a period or implatation bleeding?
Q. I was supposed to have ovulated around the 12th of May, but I think by reading my "signs" I actually ovulated closer to the 16th. My husband and I had unprotected intercourse around both of those days (a day before or on the day). I was calculated to have my period on the 25th (when I ovulated on the 12th), and I am now 5 days late. On the 25th I have a few tiny pink drops of blood, so I assumed I was starting my period, but it has now been five days and I have had no other bleeding. I took a pregnancy test on the 26 that came back negative. I was wondering if anyone knew if that little drop could count as my period, or if I could possibly be pregnant even after the pregnancy test came back negative. My breasts are really sore and… [cont.]

A. If you did indeed ovulate on the 16th like you think, the 26 could have been too early to test. SO Yes you can still be pregnant if that test came back negative. You should test now because it should be accurate. The blood could have been implantation bleeding and if it was you would need to wait another week or so before testing positive. If you ovulated around the 16th, implatation should have been alot sooner, not on the 25th. I would not count the few drops of blood as a period. You should only count a period as a period if it was at least a little normal. Only a few drops, something isnt right. The blood could be just irritation if you are pregant. Did you have sex before you bled a little? Its probably not implantation OR a period… [cont.]

Is it dangerous to have period like flows when aroused and/or climax and not being on your period?
Q. I am 21 years old and have been sexually active for a few years now and have not experienced bleeding during intercourse until recently. At first I believed maybe it was too rough, I would bleed lightly during and afterwards it would be period like flows. Now every time I become aroused or climax, even without penetration I experience period like bleeding and cramps. This has occurred in more frequently in the last month. I have been taking the depot shot since October. I am very worried that something may be wrong.

A. that would definitely worry me too. have you discussed it with a doctor? you say you're taking the shot, so i assume you have a gynecologist. did they seem worried? still, i would do everything i could to get to the bottom of that problem. it can't be normal.
