Is it legal to charge for a "Charge for Boiler Service" on top of existing water charge?
Q. Lanlord charging tennant new utility charge for a Boiler Fee? Is the legal in Bay Area CA? No meter here. We have lived here for three years without this charge and today we received a posting on my front door stating that this new charge would be added to our water bill. We have no individual meters for water in any of these buildings within the complex and all water charges are "Based on occupancy and square footage" I asked when I signed my lease if there was a meter that I could check for accuracy, and the lady I signed with had no information. "Key Code Information??"?
Q. Hi everyone!!! There's a major problem- our Ford Explorer key is lost! (And we don't have a replacement on site!) I'm at home, trying to find a solution. We considered hotwiring, but thought it to be too risky. We then called a local locksmith to see if he could mold a new key to fit the car (otherwise I'll have to drive 2.5 hours to the site of the Explorer to bring a new key tomorrow morning). The locksmith needed a manufacturer's code to make a new key mold... we tried calling the manufacturer but couldn't get in touch. Is there some way to access this code-- such as the owner's manual (which is very doubtful)? Thanks!

A. You'd have to call a Ford dealer with the VIN number and proof of ownership to get the original key code or cuts and possibly the chip code if it has one. Ask the locksmith if he can make a bump key for it and get it to start with that if there's no chip in the key.

If it were not in legal mumbo-jumbo it may be more apparant, but it just keeps reffering to "the information" and then giving rediculously all-inclusive definitions. What information are they likely to be trying to protect? It's seperate to the usual confidentiality agreement (the gist of which is that they keep all the IP). I probably don't have any room to negotiate, and i wouldn't turn the job down based on it. I just want an idea of what i am signing, for what rules they wil expect me to follow. How to delete "has updated Basics information" from yahoo messenger status message?
Q. This message appears on my YM status with a link that takes people to my yahoo profile page. Ironically, I updated my profile to try to make it more private. I've already unticked the "Share my updates" box in the "manage updates" page yet the link and status message that I've updated my basic information still remains on my messenger. It's been like this for several days now. Can anyone help?

What does "Confidential Information" mean related to a deposit hold with my B of A account?
Q. I deposited a check and the reason for the hold is "Confidential Information". The check is for a little over $2k and legit, but the hold is not scheduled 2 be lifted until the 29th. What could be the issue?

Q. I applied for a Capitol One card online, the next screen said that I'd receive something in the mail in seven to ten days. Since it didn't get approved right then, does this mean it was declined? If not, specifically what "additional information" are they going to be seeking out?

A. It can depend. Sometimes they mail you information as a means of fraud protection. Other times they need clarification on part of the information you gave them ( employer, current debts, etc). It can really depend.

The IRS refund site was listing my return as being processed. Now it has "no information" What happened?
Q. I E-filed my return on 1/22/08. It was accepted the same day and the next day my refund status was "being processed" and that I should receive my refund by Feb 5, 2008, as a direct deposit. Now the refund status website has "no information" about my return. What happened? Does that mean my return has a problem?

A. If you checked today, I believe they were having trouble with the website. You can call this number 1-800-829-1954 with your information and it should be up to date. Not to scare you, but the year before last, I received a similar message and it turns out that I had transposed a number on one of my kids SS #. I called and was able to fix the problem quickly and had my return within that week.
