How do you find a key code for a lost key?
Q. I have a friend that has lost his keys and now he's been trying to get a new key for his car. Every place he goes to tells him he needs a key code before they can make a key for him, he of course has no idea what this is. Until he can figure out how to get a key made, he can't use his car. A. Hi, you may want to suggest your friend call or go online to his car manufacturer, Give them the VIN# and they shold be able to tell you the key code for his car. If his key has a electronic device he will have to go to a dealer and have them order him a new one. This can cost any where from $50-$150 dollars depending on his make and model. Good luck to your friend. Been there and done that! LOL

Q. Was at a car auction years ago and a locksmith was on site. I believe he told a guy in line to have a key made for a purchase to check the door post area for the key code number. I did not know the year or make of the car.

A. some key codes on early British and American cars were stamped on the face of the ignition switch. On my TR 4 the trunk handle steel rod had ###. You will have to remove the handle to view the three digit number. For cars after 1967, no key code is stamped on the lock... you would have to contact the company directly! Hope this helps!

A. The key code should have been given to you with the vehicle handbook etc. when you bought it. If not, you will have to go to the dealers for them to sort out. Don't forget to take the Registration document to prove you own the vehicle or they can refuse to do it.

A. infinite and beyond? Legally speaking, one. But if you de-install first, you can keep moving it from computer to computer. Although the online activation will fail after two different computers. Then you will need to call everytime afterwards. Take about 1 hour last time i did it.

A. It is on a sticker on the CD case. It should not be difficult to find - if there is no key, I would contact the seller immediately. Buying the game without the CD key is useless. Blizzard gives out the software for free, but you need the CD key to create an account and log on.

A. If I understand correctly you are looking for the keyless entry keypad code. The dealer can use a scan tool NGS, PDS or IDS to retrieve the code from the module. I do it all the time for free to customers in the service lane. If you are looking to lake another key to match the existing locks the dealership service and parts managers have access to the Ford database that will look up the factory key codes for cars/trucks less than 10 years old. You will have to prove ownership and have the vin number. This is also usually a free service, they do charge to make and program additional keys.
