UPDATE! UPDATE! IRS Refund delay, Reference 1121?
Q. After countless hours online alot of research I hope this information will help some of the 1/26 filers who are still waiting for their refunds. Those of us with the 1121 code "Delay in Processing" were infact kicked out of the system because of a "glitch". The were all resequenced for review. Each return is being re-entered in to computer system and waiting in "que" to be reviewed. Initially the delay code is 1121. Most returns have recently went to a 8002 delay code. (You get this 8002 code when you input your information on the website and it says "You must have made a mistake", enter the date you filed and how, then you will get the 8002 code. When the return is in that code it is actually being reviewed. It will then go to… [cont.]

A. I called the IRS today and they said that the people who were supposed to recieve their refunds on 26 Jan, should receive their refunds on the 16th of January. If you did it through H&R block or Turbo Tax you may have to wait another day before their bank can transfer to your account. Hope this helps

IRS Refund delay reference 1121?
Q. Did anyone get a very rude response when you called the IRS about the delay and were told that it was pulled for questionable items and someone would contact you in 45 days?
Asked by DANIELLE F - Sun Feb 11 17:06:21 2007 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. That's the standard answer from the IRS. It's not a matter of being rude, it's just how things are over there. Your return has been pulled aside for some reason (incorrect social security numbers on return and questions regarding dependents are the most common). You should receive written notification from the IRS (within 45 days, sorry) that will indicate exactly why your refund is being held up. Sorry I don't have better news for you!

A. I have claimed EIC for the past 4 years on my child. I recently had my adopted name changed back to my biological name in 2005. I offically changed my name with the SSA and said to me that will take care of when I file income tax, the name will match the number and you will have no problems. Well, I have been getting the same reference number codes that you are. I call and call and call and everytime I call it's "Wait another 4 weeks, if you don't hear anything from us, please call again". Well, it's been 4 weeks since I efiled. I'm going to call again today and listen to some rep tell me to call again in so many weeks. Code 1121: refund delayed?
Q. On Tuesday, my refund status changed from 1/30 to Delayed with code 1121. I have Googled this code and found some disturbing information. Please, if anyone has ever had a code 1121 on your tax return, please post here and tell me how it was or if it has been resolved. I don't know why it's being held, but my hubby and I are suppose to get a letter by the 14th. I am just sick over this and very worried. Thank you both, Gatsbi and Lauren. The status changed not today, but Tuesday of this past week. And I filled out everything as best as I could, but after talking with hubby this evening, we figured out that I left off what the kids got for Social Security from my DH on their SSA-1099 forms this year, as I didn't see a place to put their info… [cont.]

A. My return was accepted on 01/18, got pushed back a week than last week I had an actual dd date of 02/06, which of course my money never showed up. Now WMR says delayed and the code 1121. Just got off the phone with the IRS and she told me it is being held and is in review, not audit. They are checking it manually for accuracy, I will recieve a letter in a week or two. Just plain ridiculous. I have filed HOH with the same children for years.

IRS refund update code 1121?
Q. Just wanted to update everyone who has code 1121. I still have reference code 1121 but today I received a letter from the IRS. The letter states my refund has been processed. Due to internal errors at the IRS, your refund will not be direct deposited as you requested. We will be mailing you a check for your refund. If you do not receive your check within 3 weeks, contact the IRS for a trace. I contacted the IRS by phone. The rep confirmed this info. I asked if the "where's my refund" site will be updated to reflect this information. The rep said no. Since the IRS manually processed the return and no computer was involved in the process, that I would remain at code 1121 and to ignore the website. Just wanted to update everyone… [cont.]

A. Here is the offical answer to the irs codes 1121 and 1221.1121 meens that your tax return is being reviewed.in other words it meens you our being audited on the first level .they review your tax info for accuracy In the aspects of employer info income and taxes on both employee claims and employer reporting.if they find something wrong then you will get the second brown letter stating to prepare you tax files for the past years. And lastly code 1221 meens there is a simple delay in processing it can take a couple of weeks.also it happens alot were they will change the code from 1221 to 1121 that meens that you our being reviewed and then they have 7weeks to either send you another notice or to refund your taxes. What does IRS Reference code 1121 mean?
Q. I went from 1221 to 1121 and it says my refund was delayed. Is this an audit? How long does it take before this gets resolved? I hope you can give me informative answers. Thanks in advance.
Asked by jhesszy - Wed Apr 2 18:26:14 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. It means your return has been pulled from the automated processing queue for review by a human. It's the first step in the formal audit process. It doesn't automatically mean that you will be audited; it's possible that the reviewer will conclude that there's nothing wrong and they'll drop it back into the processing queue. Generally you'll get a letter at about 4 weeks explaining that there's a delay. They may or may not ask for additional information at that point. The generally have to either ask for more information or put you back in the queue within 6 weeks though that's not cast in stone, nor does it mean that you can't be audited later.

My refund has been delayed by the IRS for further processing! Does anyone know what the problem could be?
Q. I was first told my expected refund date was changed to Feb 29th, then I was told It was delayed and to use reference 1221 when calling, next I was told that it would be deposited on Feb 8th. Which did not happen! I was then given ref 8802 when calling and now I must use reference 1121 when calling. I have talked to several irs reps and none of the answers are the same.

A. Something is wrong with your return, dude. You really don't give enough detail, what do they tell you when you call? Did you add wrong? Does your name and social security number not match? Did you file a Sch. A and deduct more in "total" then you netted for the year. ooops, how did you pay for it? Anyway, something has kicked you out of the system, something is wrong with your return

Anyone still getting reference # 1121 on www.irs.gov?
Q. My refund was scheduled for direct deposit on 1/26. On 1/31 my refund status changed to delayed with reference #1121. When I called they said it would be an additional 2 weeks and if I didn't have my refund by 2/9 to expect a letter in the mail as to why. I guess my question is has anyone's status changed or is there a way to find out if it's going to be delayed even longer? I guess I am thinking with logic here...if the IRS approved my return they would have to know it was approved before 2/9 to set up the deposit..but nothing has changed...Looking for other people in my shoes...

A. I'm in the exact same situation and it is very frustratring!! I was getting the #1121, but today nothing is showing up. It's as if they never received it. I have no idea what is going on and no one at the IRS seems to either. I'm also hoping for 2/9, but at this point, I just don't know! They told me that I would get a letter or deposit by 2/9...if they don't hurry up with the deposit, I won't have an address for them to mail the letter. This is absurd!

What does 1121 mean?
Q. What does 1121 mean? There is a delay in processing your tax return. For more information, please continue. When you call have this information ready: * A copy of this page. * A copy of your tax return. * The Social Security Number, Filing Status, and refund amount claimed on your return. * Any notice that you have received concerning your refund. * Your current address. Please mention reference number 1121 to the IRS Customer Service Representative. I used turbo tax to make sure I don't make any mistake and ask them to put the money in my bank they said everything check out and the IRS said the same thing now this. I wish they could said I had a mistake a month ago

Still haven't received it and am currently in code 1121 after being in 1221 for awhile. I was told I would receive a letter, which only informs you of what you already know within 3 weeks. I received a letter in the mail in about a week, then you have to send them copies of your w-2's to prove your income and with holdings are correct. Once they receive those, then you should get a refund a couple of weeks after that which the process usually takes about 4-5 weeks...
